My name is Andy Winn, owner of Winn Photo
Winn Photo was born in 2012, when my passion for photography and lighting was happily consuming entire days, weeks and months. I poured myself into the art, attending classes, meetups, watching hours and hours of online video tutorials and practicing my skills as much as I possibly could.
Over the years, I've shot just about everything: products, business locations and real estate, boudoir, senior photos, family sessions, weddings, engagements and so much more. Through shooting all the above, I realized that I have an affinity and love for using natural, ambient lighting to flatter my subject.
Natural light presents a lot of unique challenges, and suits my "go with the flow" nature perfectly. Ambient light changes often, sometimes minute-by-minute (or quicker) and I've always loved rolling with it, figuring things out and creating lovely photos.
Eventually, I found my way into photography instruction, and taught classes regularly through my Meetup.com group. Students had a lot of great feedback, and I had a knack for teaching to multiple learning styles, and making sure that students had new skills and new concepts to walk away with and practice during their growth as a photographer and an artist.
Professionally, I have decided to focus on professional headshots to hone and market to one area of the industry. Doing it all at once dilutes your efforts, and can leave you exhausted. Focusing on headshots was a natural choice because I've always loved shooting them, and helping nervous clients come out of their shell...most people don't love being in front of the camera. If I can make them smile and have fun, then I feel I've left a good mark and made their day!
